Happy Hump Day you guys! So often we are asked how we grew from a solo artist biz into one with two locations and multiple employees. The simple answer is...social media! It's such an amazing tool and it's FREE! There is a wealth of information out there to help you navigate the various platforms, but let's be honest - it's confusing when you're new!
So, guess what?! We wrote a book to help you all with that! This book covers all the basics of social media, including what the platforms are, definitions, and what platforms are best for what purpose. It also covers more advanced topics such as growth tools and apps, data, a guide to using hashtags, and so much more!
We hosted our class, Social Media Made Simple, for 30 amazing girl bosses and it was a huge hit. The book contains all the content and worksheets from the training.
In the next couple weeks the book will be available for purchase. Until then, here is an excerpt from our book regarding how to create the perfect Instagram bio!
I have some amazing news that I can finally share! I've written an E-Book with all my tips and tricks on all things microblading! This has been in the works for months, and it will be released this fall! It has been such a fun (and exhausting!) journey compiling all the knowledge, experience, and techniques that I've accumulated over the last couple years doing well over 1,000 microblading sessions. I cannot wait to share it with you all! There are still a couple big surprises coming along with this book that I can't share just yet, but just know it's going to be the most comprehensive book on microblading ever! Keep reading to learn more about what the book includes, why I wrote the book, and how you can get it!

Have you ever wondered what happens during a miroblading session from the client's perspective?
So many people have the same questions - they're excited about the possibility of feeling so good about themselves and saving tons of time by having their brows done. But often times the fear of the unknown holds them back from making an appointment!
We were lucky enough to partner with an amazing YouTuber to document her experience. She's beautiful and super fashionable, you guys should totally subscribe to her YouTube channel! Check out her vid below to see how her experience went!
Brow Envy started as just one artist in a small salon suite when I first trained in microblading. In a matter of a couple years Brow Envy has grown to be a full brow and lash bar with locations in both Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. We now have a team of 8 and are continuing to grow. In the weeks to come, we will be sharing artist spotlights, which showcase each of our artists and their personal stories about how they came to be artists at Brow Envy.
First up is Mary! Keep reading to learn more about her and watch her story on YouTube below.
Joined the team: May 2017
Specialty:Microblading, Blading with Shading, Microblading Trainer
Mary was actually a microblading client of mine. Shortly after booking her appointments I announced that I was looking for my first apprentice and she reached out. We both laugh about it now because Mary is so mellow, so much so that I couldn't even tell if she loved her brows after I did them! So when she reached out, I was like, really?! LOL. She was such a natural and picked up on everything quickly. It's hard to believe it's been over a year since she joined the team.
Check out the video to learn more about Mary and her story in her own (funny!) words!

When I took my first permanent makeup class I remember the back and forth; the sleepless nights, questioning my decision. Was it too much money? What if I wasn't good at it? How do I know which one to choose? I even paid and lost a large deposit when I decided to forgo the training I booked with a large company to train with someone closer for a one on one experience. I even cried the entire 90 minute drive there the first day, out of pure angst. And fear. What if this class didn't teach me anything? You may be wondering the same thing if you're contemplating training, as you should. This is a big decision and investment for yourself. Read on to see how our training is different than many others.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LASH LIFTS!
What is a Lash Lift?
A lift is essentially a perm for your lashes, which replaces the daily curling of your lashes with an eyelash curler. A lash curler can damage your lashes over time, besides who has time for that?! The lift makes your lashes look curled and lifted, and with the optional tint enhancement you can temporarily darken your lashes so they look the same color as mascara! The lift typically lasts around 6-8 weeks depending on your lash cycle. Tint typically lasts around one month on average.
What is the Lash Lift process?
The process is simple, relatively quick and painless. Your artist will welcome you and ask you to relax on our comfortable bed. You will need to keep your eyes closed for the entire process, which lasts about 45 minutes. Many people take a nap! Your artist will apply a soft silicone rod and use a gentle adhesive to paint your lashes neatly onto the rod. A series of solutions are then applied to complete the lift. Optional tint is applied at the end of the process, and everything is removed, leaving you with lifted, curled lashes with no need for a lash curler!
Who is a good candidate?
Who is NOT a candidate?
Now that permanent makeup is on the mainstream map, in large part due to the microblading explosion, there are more and more people from all walks of life pursuing a career in this area of the beauty industry.
As an artist and entrepreneur myself, I think this development is exceptional! Especially when statistics show that females are grossly underrepresented in the world of business ownership. The beauty industry, however, has always been an exception to that rule. It's a space that women know well and more and more women are taking ownership of that every day and becoming their own bosses!
As passionate as I am about eyes, brows, and lashes, I am more passionate about women feeling confident and being independent, whatever that looks like for them. For some of the women I interact with, that may mean that I can give them eyebrows that they lost due to Cancer. For others, it may mean that I can teach them the skills they need to finally quit the job they hated and do something they enjoy for a living.
All that said, certainly a job in microblading and permanent makeup is not for everyone! Read on below for my take on the job itself and what it takes to be great!
